Andover, Kansas is part of the Wichita metropolitan area and boasts of being one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. 2007 marks the first annual Crowder Andover Bowl, a football tournament game for the Andover jr. football teams.
Mike Lear, coach of the Andover Pirates, contacted me and asked if I would design the inaugural logo for the event. The Crowder Andover Bowl benefits the Andover Recreation Programs and youth athletes in Andover. Sponsorship also helps provide a scholarship endowment in memory of the late Matthew Crowder.
Matt had a medical condition that enlarged his heart called cardiomegaly. He died suddenly and tragically during a tennis match on Monday, November 14, 2005 at the age of 27. Matt coached 3rd/4th grade jr. football and is described by his friends and family as someone who was bigger than life. Matt's friends have created a website called
"Friends of Matt" in his honor.
The type for the words "Andover" and "07" are custom creations loosely based on the geometry of Gotham.
The Crowder Andover Bowl was held on November 3rd and 4th 2007.
